Roller Blinds Take down the blind but do not remove from roller. Immerse the dirty portion in hand-warm water. Keep the blind flat, do not squeeze or wring. Scrub gently with a soft brush and ordinary household soap with a little fabric conditioner or softener added to the water. Rinse with several changes of water & peg out over at least 2 lines. Press with a warm iron if needed. Removing Mildew Spray with a mildew remover allow to stand & wash with a light soapy water. Dry thoroughly & re hang. Keeping Venetian Blinds Clean Apply a little furniture wax before hanging & buff up well. This will make cleaning far easier in future. Wooden or Bamboo Blinds Willow, cane & bamboo blinds are best washed with lukewarm salted water. Add to this 1 tbs of soda to 1/4 cup of salt per litre of water. Rinse well, dry thoroughly and rub lightly with linseed oil. Furniture can be protected with a coating of white shellac. |
