Gilt Frames Are Harder than Standard Frames Go over the gilt gently with a moist cloth, and after a few moments, when the dirt has had time to soften, repeat the operation. Do not rub hard. Dry with a soft cloth using a gentle dabbing action, again do not rub. For more stuborn marks go over it with a cotton ball and a little rubbing alcohol. However with all this just remember if in doubt... DONT! The character of a guilt frame can lie in the patina & its marks, overcleaning can quickly remove this character. |
